Alfred Lee Courtney

Alfred L. Courtney, age 83, of Fairfield, IA, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

His body will be cremated. No funeral services are planned, and no memorial will be established.

Alfred Lee Courtney was born November 13, 1923 in Brighton, IA, the son of Calvin Foster "Hap" and Esther (Howel) Courtney. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the SeaBees of WWII.

Alfred married Florine Roslin Moyer, who passed away in 1973, and later married Darlene House. She also preceded him in death in 2003.

Alfred was employed as a machinist at Dexter Company for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed camping, and fishing. He constructed remote control model airplanes and tinkered around the house.

He is survived by his children and their families: Jon Courtney and wife Linda of Libertyville, IA, Margaret Curtis of Fairfield, Donnie House of Burlington, IA, Doug House of Fairfield, Sharon Ryder of Fairfield, Terry House of Richland, Leo House of Salina, and Diane Henry of Houghton, IA. He has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, his wifves, one son, Allen Palmer, and two sisters: Jean Tucker and Doris Hunt.
