Alice Mae Hopper

Alice M. Hopper, age 88, of Fairfield, IA, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at her daughter's home in Brighton.

Family visitation will be held 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, March 20, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 21st, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Green City, MO, with Pastor Mike Davis officiating.

Alice Mae Ames Hopper was born in Green City, MO on May 2, 1920 to Clarence and Ruth (Jones) Ames. She grew up in Green City, where she attended Red Brush School. Alice was united in marriage with Luther Hopper in Green City on October 9, 1942. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1992.

Her first years of marriage were spent farming in and around the Green City area. The family moved to Fairfield, IA in 1956. Alice was a self-employed housecleaner and she was a longtime member of the Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting and left her family many beautiful treasures. Alice will be deeply missed by her family and special memories of her will always be treasured.

She is survived by her children and their families: Sharon Mahaffey and husband John of Kirkville, IA, Betty Brown and husband Dell of Ames, IA, Nola Kleemeyer and husband Rod of Brighton, IA, and Don Hopper and wife Sue of Lockridge, IA. Alice was blessed with ten grandchildren, and 27 greatgrandchildren. Survivors included siblings: Marea Walker of Green City, MO, Bernice Zinsli of Fairfield, IA, and Harry Ames of Green City, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, one daughter, and one sister.
