Anna Margretta Gimbel

Anna Margretta Gimbel age 88, of Fairfield, died March 29, 2010 at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday April 2, 2010 at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Pastor Philip Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday April 1, 2010 at Behner Funeral Home .

Anna Margretta Root was born November 25, 1921 in Marietta, Minnesota to Edward and Anna Christine Ebsen Root. In 1926 the family moved to Watertown,South Dakota where she attended school and graduated from Watertown High School.She married John F. Gimbel on September 8, 1946 at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, South Dakota. John and Gretta moved to Fairfield in 1946 when they purchased the T.E. McLean Jewelry Store. Gretta was a member of Chapter C, P.E.O.,Fairfield Golf and Country Club, Fairfield Womens Club, and First Lutheran Church.

John passed away on November 6, 2005. Gretta is survived by her daughter Christine (Rick) Small of Fairfield, Iowa. Two grandchildren Thomas (Jaimee) Small of West Des Moines, Iowa and Carrie (Ben) Roach of West Des Moines, Iowa ; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, and Brendan Roach, and Ashlan Christine Small. Gretta was preceded by her parents, husband John, 3 brothers, George, Bob, and Arvie Root, and 1 Sister Julia Root Buffington.
