Arden Earl Hining

Arden "Baldy" Earl Hining, age 86 of Fairfield, passed away Monday, December 11, 2006 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Funeral services were held 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Rev. Keevin Koch officiated. Burial followed in Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, IA.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arden Earl "Baldy" Hining was born November 13, 1920 in Floris, IA, the son of Jasper and Edna (Swaim) Hining. He lived all his life in Jefferson County, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1939.

"Baldy" was united in marriage with Betty Jane Welcher on June 9, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant. They were the parents of one daughter, Debra. Betty passed away November 26, 2002.

"Baldy" was a WWII veteran, where he served in the National Guard. He was employed at Loudens, and retired as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Hining of Kenau, Hawaii, and one grandson, Buddy Gourly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, two brothers: Glendon Hining and infant Jasper H. Hining, a half-brother Kermit Swaim, and four sisters: Vera Hammersly, Marie Barkley, Flossie Palmer, and Lelah McKee.
