Avis M. Hill

            Avis M. Hill, 82, of rural Batavia, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024 at her home.

            Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the family present from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19^th at Behner Funeral Home with Pastors Danny Cary and Darrell Waugh officiating. Burial will be at Batavia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus or the family.

            Avis was born June 6, 1941 in Fairfield, the daughter of George and Mary (Coffin) Boughner. She married John Hill on her mother's birthday, April 26, 1962 in Fairfield. 

            Throughout her life, Avis worked as a registered nurse for Cardinal Community School District, Iowa Ag Statistics, Fairfield Clinic and Park View Nursing Home.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and sewing. She loved working on the farm, and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. 

            Those left to honor her memory include her husband, John; daughter, Karen Kloft of Oskaloosa; son, Phil (Cindi) Hill of Waverly, Iowa; grandchildren, Brittany Kloft, Chelsey (fiancé, Brendan Schott) Kloft, Rachel (Travis) Martinek, Jacob Kloft, and Nathan (fiancé, Holly Cooksley) Hill; great-grandchild, Miles Martinek; sister, Shirley Mosinski of Packwood; sister-in-law, Peggy and Bruce Kimmerle of Frisco, Texas; and brother-in-law, Dick Watson of Ottumwa.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Warren and Vera Hill; sister-in-law, Jane Watson; and brother-in-law, Lee Hill.
