Barbara Jean (Rail) Smith

Barbara Jean Rail Smith, age 85 of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at her home.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, July 24, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Holman officiating. Burial will be at Fell Cemetery, Libertyville, IA.

Barbara was born July 17, 1930 to Glen and Goldie (Anderson) Rail in Hillsboro, IA. She married Wayne Eugene Smith September 7, 1948. He passed away June 1, 2011.

Barbara was office manager at Vision Clinic (now Wolfe Clinic) and bookkeeper for the family business “Smith Auto Parts”. She was a past president at the McElhinny House and a member for the following organizations and clubs; Elks, Garden Club, Hospital Auxiliary, Bargain Box and traveled with Libertyville Travelers & First National Bank Heritage Club. Barbara was an avid bridge player. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Barbara is survived by her 4 children, Sharlene Smith of Milan, TN, Vicki (Dennis) Wischmeier of Sperry, IA, Tim (Sherri) Smith of Fairfield, IA and Randy (Terri) Smith of Davenport, IA; 8 grandchildren, Mason (Jennifer) Cooper, Jacob Smith, Lani (Chris) Boyd, Sara (Doug) Schwartz, Lance Smith, Josh Smith, Tyler Smith and Madison Smith, 2 step grandchildren: Audra (Bryan) Spears and Jacob (Annalicia) Wischmeier; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Smith; parents, Glen and Goldie Rail; one brother, Victor Rail; and one sister, Darlene Creek.
