Bernard Frederick Hermann was born December 21, 1919 in Washington, Iowa, Van Buren Township, Keokuk County. He was the son of Fred and Rosanna (Hammen) Hermann. He married Betty Van Winkle. She passed away in 1981.

Bernard was a farmer and a welder employed by Fenn Implements in Washington and Johnson Fabricating of Iowa City, Iowa.

Bernard is survived by one sister, Catherine Lee of Tipton, Michigan, many nieces and nephews and their families and sister-and brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty, one sister, Dorothy Pohlman and one brother, Ambrose Hermann.
