Blanche Elizabeth Nelson

Blanche Elizabeth Nelson, age 103, passed away November 27, 2014 at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, IA

Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, IA with Pastor Todd Holman officiating.

Blanche was born May 22,1911 in Lockridge, IA to Garfield and Hilma (Sodergren) Messer. She married Renhold Herman Nelson January 21,1941. He passed away April 3,1965.

Blanche resided in Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant and Burlington throughout her lifetime and was a teacher for 7 years, a Bookkeeper for Iowa Electric Light and Power for 23 years and in her "retirement" worked another 13 years at Johnson' Hardware Store.

Blanche loved to travel, garden, bowl, play Rummikub, spend time with her family & friends and watch the Hawkeye & San Antonio Spurs basketball games.

She is survived by one sister, Thelma Ridinger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Renhold Nelson; 5 brothers, Clifford, Paul, Wayne, Howard and Russell Messer; and one sister, Violet Tallman.
