December 30, 1925 — July 2, 2006

Bobby B. Popejoy, age 80, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006 at home following a battle with cancer.

Family visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. The casket will be closed.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield, IA, with Rev. Traverce Harrison officiating. The Elks will conduct a memorial service at the First Christian Church prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield with military rites.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Fairfield or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Bobby B. Popejoy was born December 30, 1925 in Fairfield, IA, the son of Lester M. and Alberta B. (Teeter) Popejoy. He was a lifelong resident of Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1943. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the infantry, and retired from the National Guard after serving for 33 years.

Bobby married Martha M. McNevin on October 4, 2003 in Fairfield. He was a member of B.P.O.E. #1192 where he had served as Lodge secretary for nine years. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post #2271. Bobby was a regular of the morning coffee group at Econofoods. His favorite hobby was visiting with people and he and Martha enjoyed traveling.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Martha, of Fairfield, and their children and families: daughter Sheri R. Renaud of Des Moines, IA, two stepsons and two stepdaughters: Tom & Terri McNevin of Littleton, CO, Peggy & Harlan Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Scott & Marty McNevin of Wayland, IA and Judy & Brian Crittenden of Butler, KY. Bobby was grandfather to two grandchildren: Amanda Jackson and Mark Jackson, and ten step-grandchildren. Bobby has five great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a sister: Carol Bucher and husband Larry, brother-in-law Jack Anderson of Indianapolis, IN and sister-in-law Betty Motz of Fairfield, IA.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jacqueline Popejoy.
