C. LeRoy Whitmore

C. 'LeRoy' Whitmore, age 85, of Fairfield, IA passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield. The body has been cremated.

Graveside inurnment services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, July 28, 2008 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, IA with Pastor Danny Cary officiating.

C. LeRoy Whitmore was born February 2, 1923 in Jefferson County, IA to William Levi and Vada Rae (Purdue) Whitmore. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School and was united in marriage with Vera Riggs November 26, 1944. She died January 8, 1998.

Mr. Whitmore farmed his own acres and was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Fairfield. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #1927, and enjoyed playing cribbage, snooker, pool and woodworking. He loved to spend time with his family.

He is survived by his children and their families: Sherry Ehrhardt and husband Jerry of Fairfield, and Wayne Whitmore and wife Diana of Edna, TX. He was blessed with six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Whitmore was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Vera.
