Carl "Doc" Keith Myers

Carl Keith “Doc” Myers, age 81 of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Monday, December 14, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Doc was born January 7, 1934 to C.E. and Bernice (McCleary) Myers in Fairfield, Iowa. He married Dixie Mae Hootman June 3, 1955. This year they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Doc served in the Army and was a lifelong farmer. Some of Doc’s interests were; he enjoyed working in his shop fixing things, loved sports, was a Little League coach, and was a Van Buren County Fair Board member. The most important was spending time with his grandkids and family.

Doc is survived by his wife, Dixie Myers of Fairfield, IA; his children, Deborah (Jim) Stortz of Cordova, IL, Jerry (Nicki) Myers of Luray, MO and Sheryl (Nick) Pitts of Kirksville, MO; 11 grandchildren, Jarid Myers, Justin Myers, Cody Myers, Jacque Myers, Jenna Tatman, Veronica Eighmy, Jason Stortz, Suzanne Riddle, Jenny Travis, Garrett Pitts, and Adam Stortz; 14 great grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Myers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.E. and Bernice Myers; one son, Garry Myers; and one brother, Raymond Myers.
