Carl Edwin Singer

Carl E. Singer, age 83 of Stockport, IA, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 28th, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Harlan VanVoorst officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Carl Edwin Singer was born November 14, 1925 in Packwood, IA to John and Ellen (Pope) Singer. He graduated from Packwood High School and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. Carl was united in marriage with Jacqueline Northcutt in Fairfield on June 28, 1947. They were married nearly 50 years before she passed away May 24, 1997.

Carl was employed by Dexter and the John Deere Company, and later farmed in Round Prairie Township. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #1927 of Fairfield.

Carl is survived by his children and their families: William Douglas Singer and wife Connie of Fairfield, IA, Ronald Edwin Singer of Stockport, IA, and James Carl Singer and wife Kim of Batavia, IA. Carl was blessed with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife; four brothers and two sisters: Howard, Paul and Stanley Singer, Nancy Hixon, Ruth Schooley, and an infant brother.
