Carolina Dovico

Carolina Dovico, age 79, of Batavia, IA, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

Prayers will be recited at Behner Funeral Home Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 7:00 PM, with family visitation to follow until 8:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield with Rev. Fr. Stephen Page officiating. Interment will follow in Batavia Cemetery.

Carolina Dovico was born in Partinico, Palermo, Sicily September 18, 1929, the daughter of Pietro and Maria (Gracella) Manto. She immigrated to the United States in 1968, and was united in marriage with Jim Dovico September 10, 1968. They were the parents of two daughters, Mary and Grace.

Carolina was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Carolina is survived by her daughters and their families: Mary Ellis and husband Matt of Batavia, IA, and Grace Collins and husband Gary of Eldon, IA. Carolina was blessed with three grandchildren: Mason Ellis and Mia Ellis, both of Batavia, and Tanner Collins of Eldon. Survivors include two sisters and two brothers, all residing in Sicily: Antonella Locassio, Pietro Manto, Vincenzia Salvatore, and Frank Manto.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
