Carroll Eugene Harwood

Carroll Eugene Harwood, age 77, of Fairfield passed away August 26, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

A Graveside memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday September 1, 2016 at Abingdon Cemetery with Pastor Danny Cary officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday August 31, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairfield.

Carroll was born July 16, 1939 to Lafeyette M. and Eleanor (Nelson) Harwood. He married Bonnie Roland in May of 1963 they later divorced. He then Married Ella Marie Oosthoek On February 8, 1985.

Carroll was a lifelong resident of Fairfield, He graduated from Fairfield High School class of 1957.He was a machinist at Rockwell Collins and retired in 1996. Carroll served in the US Army. He was a member of VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles, he enjoyed playing cards, watching old western movies, watching Cubs baseball, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Carroll is survived by his wife Ella “Marie” of Fairfield, 3 children Scott Harwood of Fairfield, Stephen (Synthia) Harwood of Madrid, IA, and Stacey (Doug) Lupher of Des Moines, IA; 3 Step children Mike (Belinda) Osborn of Mount View, Ca, Sherri (Calvin) Helterbran of Fairfield, IA, Shelly (Willis) Bruegge of Birmingham, IA; 2 brothers, Kenneth Harwood of Ottumwa, and Tom (Jeanie) Harwood of Danville, IA; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Carroll was preceded by his parents Lafayette and Eleanor; 2 brothers James, and Michael Harwood.
