Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM , Saturday, following visitation. Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiated.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Catherine Lucille Mitchell was born in Queen City, Missouri on July 8, 1909. She was the daughter of Allen and Rose (Satterfield) Rolston. Catherine married Dean Mitchell on October 3, 1931 and they were the parents of Allen, Charlotte and Judith.

The Mitchell made Fairfield their home since 1940. Catherine wan an elementary school teacher and head librarian in Batavia for 25 years. Her memberships include Iota Sigma Sorority, State Officer and Executive Director of WCTU, Retired Teachers Assoc. The Rebeccas, Philanthea Class and The First Baptist Church of Fairfield. Catherine and her twin sister, Florence, played violin duets in many music competitions.

Catherine is survived by her children and their families: Allen R. Mitchell of Ottumwa, IA, Charlotte Mark of Wellsburg, IA and Judith Holcomb of Florence, AZ. Catherine was grandmother to six and had 16 great-grandchildren, and one niece and nephew.

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dean on July 21, 1974, her sisters: Florence Gramsch and Lillian Craig and one niece.
