Charlene Kennedy

Charlene Kennedy, age 83, of Fairfield, IA, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be held 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 29th, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Gordon Oliver officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Charlene Kennedy was born December 17, 1925 in East St. Louis, IL to Charles and Loretta Frances (Meteer) Burton. She graduated from high school and was united in marriage with Robert Dean Kennedy in East St. Louis on February 17, 1945. He preceded her in death in Hartsville, TN on March 10, 1985.

Mrs. Kennedy was a resident of Fairfield from 1966-2009. She was a certified nursing assistant at Jefferson County Hospital for 10 years, and receptionist for the Department of Human Services for 8 years. In addition to her family, she enjoyed crocheting.

She is survived by her children and their families: Stephen & Becky Kennedy of Newcastle, OK, Kenneth and Mary Kennedy of Champaign, IL, Cheryl and Bucky Manning of Batavia, IA, Donna Moore and Tim Downing of Fairfield, IA, and Sandra Daniels and Ken Scott of Cape Coral, FL. Mrs. Kennedy was blessed with 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son Dennis Kennedy, and grandson, Darin Kennedy.
