Charles B. Weller Jr

Charles B. Weller Jr., age 88 of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Parkview Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield, with Father Stephen C. Page officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home followed by Prayers for Christian Wake. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund, Parkview Care Center or to Hospice Compasus. Cards and memorials can be sent to 1105 S. Main Street Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Mr. Weller was born June 5, 1923 in Bahner, Missouri, the son of Charles Sr. and Kathryn O'Brien Weller. He married Doris J. Clifford on June 25, 1947 in Sedalia, Missouri. She passed away December 16, 2009.

Mr. Weller retired from J.C. Penney Company after 37 years of service, with 21 years of service as the Manager of the Fairfield Penney store. After retirement, he worked part time, for 14 years, at Behner Funeral Home. He served as Sargeant of the 825th Aviation Engineers in World War II from January 1943 to December 1945. Mr. Weller was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge #1192 and served as a Chamber of Commerce Board Member.

Charles is survived by 2 sons: Dale and Michael (Kathy) Weller of Omaha, Nebraska, 1 daughter: Linda (Vern) Reinier of Fairfield, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 brother: Don (Madeline) Weller of Sedalia, Missouri and 1 sister: Mary Jo (Don) Bellmer of Camdenton, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Doris and 1 son: James Weller.
