Clarence Elmer Denney, age 100, of Fairfield went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Sunnybrook Living Care Center.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday November 7, 2013 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory with words of comfort by David Alexander. Friends may greet family one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, IA.

Clarence Elmer Denney was born January 19, 1913 in Martinsburg, IA to Jesse E. and Eunice Goepel Denney. He grew up on a farm near Libertyville and was the eldest of 5 children. He graduated from Libertyville High School in 1931 and played basketball while there. On July 22, 1938, he married Ruth O. Cooksey in Memphis, MO and just celebrated their 75th Anniversary.
Clarence was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County always working in farm related occupations. He retired from Reiff Grain and Feed at the age of 79. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Fairfield. He enjoyed flowers, watching basketball and the game show "The Price Is Right". He was a kind and thankful man and loved by his family.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Ruth. 3 daughters and 1 son and families: Carolyn Black of Dallas Center, IA., Brenda (Fred) Everett of Brighton, IA., David (Vera) Denney of Stockport, IA., Pat (B.R.) Poole of Stockport, IA. 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 1 brother: Robert Denney of Ellenboro, NC.
Clarence was preceded in death by: his parents, two brothers, one sister, a son in-law, and a great grandson in infancy.
