Clarence "Pete" Eugene Shy

Clarence "Pete" Eugene Shy, age 92 of Fairfield, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Pete was born September 22, 1920 in Richland to Clarence and Zella Walton Shy. He married Catherine Louise VanDerSnick on October 3, 1943 in Fairfield, Iowa and she precedes him in death.

He worked for a Gas & Oil business for 30 years and then joined his son, Ron, in an Industrial Vending business, until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1192.

Pete is survived by 1 son: Ronald Eugene Shy of Cape Fair, Mo., 1 grandson: Corbin Eugene Shy, 1 great-granddaughter: Cassy Jo Shy and a special friend: Mary Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Zella Shy, his wife: Catherine Shy, 2 sisters: Naoma Sasseen and Pauline Braund and 1 brother: Raymond Shy.
