Clarence M. Vorhies

Family visitation was held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 11, 2005 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services were be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial followed in Lockridge Cemetery in Lockridge.

Memorials may be made to Augustana Lutheran Church of Lockridge or Lockridge Cemetery Association.

Clarence M. "Swede" Vorhies was born on New Year's Day in 1912. He was the son of Marshall A. and Emma O. (Johnson) Vorhies. Clarence lived all his life in the Lockridge community, graduating from High School. He married Doris Bottorff in Fairfield, IA on May 16, 1937. They were the parents of three sons: Richard, Dean and Kevin. Doris passed away in December of 1986.

Clarence was employed at The Dexter Company for 40 years in the Store Room and Material & Handling. He was a member of local union I.A.M #1292, Fairfield Eagles Lodge #1927 and the Moose Lodge of Mt. Pleasant #1003. Clarence was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church of Lockridge. He enjoyed dancing at the Eagles Lodge and mowed the grass there for a number of years. He especially enjoyed fishing with his Calcutta bamboo pole.

Clarence is survived by his three sons: Richard Vorhies and his wife Patricia of Lockridge, IA, Dean Vorhies of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Kevin Vorhies of Hot Springs, AR. He is also survived by one brother, George Vorhies of Fairfield.

Predeceasing Clarence are his parents, his wife Doris and three brothers: Harold Vorhies of Stockport, IA, Grant Vorhies of Lockridge and Lester Vorhies of Las Vegas, NV.
