Claude Lewis Nicholson age 81 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at his home.
Visitation for family & friends will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2020, at Behner Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial with military honor will follow the service at St Joseph Cemetery, East Pleasant Plain, IA.
In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharon Nicholson and mailed to: Sharon Nicholson, 2664 Hwy 1, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
Claude was born March 1, 1938, in Wichita, KS to Glenn and Vivian (Sullard) Nicholson. He married Sharon Sieren on August 27, 1979, in Memphis, MO.
Claude graduated from Mulvane High School in 1956. He moved to Iowa in 1957 from Kansas with Ron McCleery’s Wheat Harvest. In 1960 Claude enlisted in the Army and served for 3 years. While in the service he was an Artillery Surveyor.
Some of Claude’s place of employment was Condon Grain & Feed, Reiff Grain & Feed, 17 years at Rockwell Collins (Meritor) and Farmer’s Market for 9 years. Claude served on the board for the Farmer’s Market and was known for his garlic & Aronia bars as a vendor. He was an organic farmer for over 40 years.
Claude will be missed by his wife of 40 years, Sharon; his children, Mychelle (David) Clark of Decorah, IA, Michael, Meredith and Montgomery (Michelle) Nicholson all of Richland; 8 grandchildren, Kadie (Mike) Archer of Griffin, GA, David Kane of Libertyville, Chelsea Nicholson of Ottumwa, Jordan (Crystal) Nicholson, Allison (Jeremy Allsup), Jaydan, Jacob and Trevor Nicholson all of Richland; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Castleman of Wichita, KS, Jack Nicholson of Allyn, Washington, Harold (Pam) Nicholson of Derby, KS, Shirley Sieren of Brighton and Linda (Dennis) Franzen of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Vivian; son, Samuel Nicholson; brother, James; in-laws, Cletus and Loretta Sieren and sister-in-law, Pat Richard.
