Corazon Bartolome Guillermo was born on January 1, 1932 in San Leonardo Nueva Ecija Philippines. Cora was the youngest daughter of Bernabe and Isidora Bartolome. Siblings include Crisostomo, Ricardo, Nena, Trinidad Montecillo, Ligaya Garcia, Belen Ronquillo, Jovita Javate, Perla del Mundo and David.

Cora married Artemio “Art” Ramos Guillermo on March 22, 1958 in San Miguel Bulacuan Philippines. Cora attended Far Eastern University in Manila where she obtained a Bachelors in Physical Education and later earned her Masters in Special Education at Bowling Green State University.

Cora and Art moved their four daughters, Lulahati (Lulu), Dalisay (Dolly), Paraluman (Rae) and Mutya (Mae) to the United States in 1968 in order to provide a better life. Their first stop was Syracuse, New York where Cora supported the family by working at the YWCA while Art completed his doctorate at Syracuse University. Next, they moved to Bowling Green, Ohio, there Cora obtained her Masters in Special Education while teaching at Bowling Green State University. The move to Jonesboro Arkansas brought Cora’s passion for teaching Special Education and Self Defense to Marked Tree School District. Shortly after, the family moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa where Cora taught Special Education at Cedar Falls High School and retired after 25 years. Cora’s love of teaching earned her a nomination for teacher of the year in Cedar Falls. After her retirement, they would eventually settle in Fairfield, Iowa to be centrally located between their daughters. They would dedicate their summers to mission work in Alaska at the Douglas United Methodist Church. Cora was often called to substitute teach in Fairfield. She was known by students and fellow teachers as Mrs. G.

Cora and Art’s genuine interests were always the well being of their daughters, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Their grandchildren are Scott Schenk, Michael Schenk, Matt Schenk, Chelsea Herman, Sami Herman, Marissa Terry and Rachel Terry. Raylee and Ivan Herman are her great grandchildren who provided constant entertainment and joy. In addition, they were very proud of their son in law’s, Kurt Schenk, David Terry and Rick Herman whom they loved deeply.

Cora’s love of cooking, epic story-telling, and love of people spread constant joy and happiness. She will be dearly missed by those she touched. May her memories live on.
