Dale A. Miller, aged 89, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Funeral services were held 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Senior Citizens Center/Meals-On-Wheels, or the Lord's Cupboard.

Dale A. Miller was born January 21, 1917 in rural Birmingham, IA, the son of A.C. and Alta Belle (Behner) Miller. He grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Birmingham High School.

Dale married Ruth Zuehlke on February 14, 1952 in Fairfield. They were the parents of two daughters: Cindy and Peggy.

Dale was a long time Dexter employee and also a retired custodian for the Fairfield Middle School. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield. His hobbies were woodworking,and Hawkeyes Boys Basketball. He loved padlocks and keys and could repair almost anything.

Dale is survived by his children and their families: Cindy and Marty Sieren of Hedrick, IA, and Peggy and Doug Miller of Williamsburg, IA and granddaughter Katie Miller, three step-grandchildren: Heather Rich, Chris Sieren and Michele Rowe, and six step-great-grandchildren. Survivors include longtime friend, Eloise Rogers of Batavia, IA, and two sisters: Merribelle Warner of Fairfield, IA and Lois Ruth Beswick of Stockport, IA.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on January 22, 1991, his parents, and two brothers: David and Maurice Miller.
