Danny Albert Buttery

Danny Albert Buttery, 82, a resident of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at UI Healthcare Medical Center Downtown in Iowa City. 

 Open visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral services celebrating his life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22nd at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Park or Education Foundation of Fairfield.

 Dan was born October 2, 1942 in Fairfield, the son of Albert and Marie (Parrett) Buttery. He married Judy Watson, July 22, 1966 in Agency. 

 Dan started working at Fairfield Middle School as a math teacher and later became a school counselor. He retired from the school district after many years of faithful service. 

 Dan loved photography and as a second job used his skills to take photos for weddings, graduations, team sports, and family portraits. His love of photography extended into his vintage camera collection. Dan enjoyed traveling and reading.

 Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Judy; sons, Brian (Tara) Buttery of Johnston, Iowa and Curt (Ryannon Frederick) Buttery of Ponte Verda, Florida; grandchildren, Simon Buttery, Hayden, Brighton, and Lilly Buttery; and his sister, Barbara (James) Johnson of Oskaloosa.

 He was preceded in death by his parents.
