Dellora Hannah Riepe

Dellora Hannah Riepe age, 91 of Fairfield, passed away May 15, 2015 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairfield with Pastor Stacy Grau officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory.

Dellora H. Riepe was born September 7, 1923 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa to Alfred and Anna (Radloff) Kietzke of Mitchellville, Iowa. They moved to Bondurant, Iowa, when she was a small child. Dellora graduated from Bondurant High School in May of 1941. After High School she attended and graduated from former Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines in 1943.

Dellora started employment in an insurance office. Later she worked in an attorney’s office. In 1945 she was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 33 years. During this time she met and married her husband Wilmer Riepe on February 28, 1959. They lived and worked in Des Moines, Iowa for 21 years before retiring and moving to Fairfield, Iowa to be closer to Wilmer’s family. Before and after retiring they enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives in and out of state. Wilmer passed away on December 25, 1999.

Dellora was a member of First Lutheran Church, the IOOF Rebekah Lodge # 96, a charter member of the Fairfield chapter 1814 of the national association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a former president of Keep Young Club, the Merry Maker Card Club, charter member of Heritage Travel Club at the First National Bank, American Legion Auxiliary # 396 in Bondurant, Iowa for many years.

She is survived by her two step sons; Ernest ‘Ernie’ (Debra) Riepe of Fairfield, IA and Paul (Barbara) Riepe of Fairfield, IA ; one sister-in-law, Rachael Howell; 9 step grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren; 1 step great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Dellora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilmer Riepe; two sisters, Shirley Naydene in infancy, and Viola May (Howard) Barger; one brother, Alfred (Nancy)Kietzke; one nephew- Randall Kietzke; one brother in-law Tom Howell; one step daughter, Evelyn Godwin; one step grandson, Timothy J Riepe; 1 great step grandson, Eric Dow; and one step granddaughter, Anglela Fries.
