She graduated from the Durant High School and entered the nursing program at St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. She married Bill Baumann on September 6, 1959. They lived in Iowa City for two years while Bill finished medical school. She worked as an RN at the VA Hospital in Iowa City for two years then for one year at Hurly Hospital in Flint, Michigan, where Bill served his internship. They moved to El Paso, Texas for two years. She worked as an office nurse there until her first son Grant was born. She then retired from nursing to be a full-time mother, wife, and homemaker.

Aside from raising three fine sons, Dianne served as a Cub Scout mother; served on the Parks and Recreation board, Logan Apartment Board, Presbyterian Session; and for 30 years was the unofficial person in charge of Christmas decorations at the Presbyterian Church.

Dianne enjoyed her sisters in PEO Chapter 00. She enjoyed antiques and her Quester’s meetings. She was a member of “Wit and Wisdom” and Abracadabra.

Dianne is survived by her husband Bill Baumann, M.D., sons, Grant (Tracy) Baumann, Greg (Pam) Baumann, and Jason (Stephanie) Baumann; six grandchildren, Brody, Sidney, Ali, Cameron, Spencer, and Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Grace; brother, Roger; brother and sister-in-law Rolland and Gloria; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Rod Vahl; and niece, Jane Novak.

Bill wishes to thank the three caregivers that allowed Dianne to be cared for at home through many years—Tina Thompson, Tammy Neff, and especially Carla Fleig, who was Dianne’s primary caregiver in her final years. He also wishes to thank Every Step Hospice, especially Rose Stiles and Gordon Hawkins.
