Donald D. Chapman, age 77 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Funeral services were held 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Traverce Harrison officiating. Burial was in Dibble Cemetery (south of Stockport)

Memorials in Donald's name may be made to First Christian Church Youth Fund, Dibble Cemetery or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Donald D. Chapman was born February 1, 1929 in Batavia, IA, the son of Harvey Levi and Melva (Francis) Chapman. He lived all his life in Jefferson County, graduating from Libertyville High School with the Class of 1947. Donald was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

Donald was united in marriage with Carol Ann Pratt on May 14, 1955 at the First Christian Church in Fairfield. They are the parents of two children: Jeffrey and Janet.

Donald was employed for 38 years as a Maintenance Operations Assistant with the Iowa Department of Transportation. He was an active member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Fairfield where he was a Deacon, Trustee, Membership Chairman, and Chairman of Deacons. Donald received the "Honored Servant" Award from his church.

Those left to honor Donald's memory are his wife of 51 years, Carol, and their children and families: Jeffrey & Carmen Chapman of Indianola, IA and Janet Chapman of Albion, IA.,step-grandson, Landen Buchman and step-granddaughter, Ashley Buchman, as well as a niece and nephew.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Marvin L. Chapman and a sister, Ethel M. Chapman.
