Doris E. Cary, age 77, of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Funeral services were held 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Her son, Rev. Danny Cary, and Rev. Frosty Van Voorst were co-officiates. Interment was in Packwood Cemetery following the service.

The family requests memorials be made, in lieu of flowers to Hopewell Church.

Doris Eleanor Cary was born July 15, 1929 in Jefferson County, Iowa, the daughter of Edgar W. and Martha A. (Summers) McIntire. She lived most of her life in the Packwood community, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1947. Doris attended Parsons College and received her teaching certificate.

On May 23, 1954, Doris was united in marriage to Orville "Dean" Cary at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. They are the parents of three children: Rebecca, Danny, and Diana. Dean passed away May 14, 1991.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother and farm homemaker. She was a member of People's Church, and she and Dean ministered the Hopewell Church for 17 years. Doris was a 4-H Leader and Gospel Worker for AFMC. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and gardening.

She is survived by her children and their families: Rebecca L. Turner and her husband Steve of Fairfield, Danny D. Cary and his wife Laura, also of Fairfield, and Diana J. Gott and her husband Jerry of Ollie. Doris has nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding Doris in death are her parents, her husband Dean, and one brother, Kenneth M. McIntire.
