Doris D. Marlay, of Keosauqua, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Thursday morning, March 9, 2006 at Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua. She was nearly 96.
Funeral services were held 10:30 AM, Monday, March 13, 2006 at Behner Funeral home with Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

Doris Devota Marlay was born March 12, 1910 in Milan, Missouri, the daughter of Claud L. and Gertrude (Simpson) Couch. She married Leroy G. Marlay in Chillicothe, Missouri on February 16, 1930. They were the parents of Garland, Lyle, Lois Jean, Jim and John. Leroy passed away November 11, 1996.
Doris was a homemaker and employed as a nurse at Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Facility for 13 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Doris enjoyed quilting and gardening, with roses as her specialty.
Doris is survived by her children and their families: Lyle & Joann Marlay of Mt. Sterling, IA, Lois Jean Ross of LaCrosse, WI, Jim & Julie Marlay of Ottumwa, IA, John Marlay of Selma, IA and daughter-in-law Donna Marlay of Topeka, KS.
Doris was grandmother to 15 grandchildren: Jerry Marlay, Greg Marlay, Bryan Marlay, Brad Marlay, Bill Ross, Jay Marlay, John Marlay, Ryan Marlay, Nathan Marlay, Jo Eichelberger, Janet McRill, Sandy Wetzel, Debra Smith, Shari Bolton and Anna Marlay. Doris has 26 great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three sisters: Hilda Gould of Springfield, MO, Claudia Leonard of Lancaster, CA, and Marian Gill of Whittier, CA.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, her husband Leroy, one son Garland Marlay, son-in-law Jerry Ross, daughter-in-law Lora Marlay, two sisters and one brother: Lois Everall, Mildred Maples and Hugh Couch.
