Dorothy Mae Brown age 96, formerly of Packwood area passed away February 17, 2013 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, Iowa.

Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor John Abraham officiating. Burial will be at Packwood Cemetery.

Open visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa.

Dorothy Mae Mitchell was born December 29, 1916 to Arthur G. and Elizabeth A. Minnick Mitchell in Hedrick, Iowa. She married Raymond Chalice Brown on August 31, 1938 on the rural farm near Packwood, Iowa. They were married for 56 years. He died on September 28, 1994.

Dorothy graduated from Packwood High School. She and Raymond ran a mobile home park in Keokuk from 1962 to 1973 and they then moved to rural Keokuk. Dorothy worked in Day Care service for several years. In 2007, she moved to Washington, Ill. (with Fran) for about 6 months, and then moved to Loveland, Co. to live (with Sue). In May 2009, she came back to Keokuk to the nursing home. Dorothy was a member of Melrose Methodist Church and served as church board secretary and a member of Melrose Ladies Group.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters and three sons and families: Frances (Richard) Freeman, Raymond (Sherry) Brown, Carl (Janice) Brown, Orville (Barb Goode) Brown, Mary Schneider (Bill Kite) and Sue (Doug) Philp; 15 grandchildren: Chris, Todd (Terri), Eric (Kristen) Freeman, and Lisa (Mark) Peiffer, Ken Brown (FiancAC.e Sarah), Donja (Tom) Esk;, Craig (Debbie) Brown, Ellen (Ken) Shipman, Teresa (Darin) Messerli, Bob (Shelly), Tammy Brown (Leland Decker), Rory (Andy) Haning-Brown, Tina (Steve) Rogers, Brian (Terri) and Scott Schneider, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, one brother Roy (Ruth) Mitchell and 1 sister-in-law: Iva Bell Mitchell.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Carl and Willis Mitchell and 2 grandsons: Kirk and Gregory.
