Dorothy Rita McLain, age 93, passed away August 17, 2010 at Sunrise Terrace Care in Winfield.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Behner Funeral home with Rev. Peggy Egbert officiating. Burial will be in the New Sweden United Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to new Sweden United Methodist Building Fund and sent to Dianne Brokken 2998 239th St. Fairfield, Ia 52556.

Dorothy was born December 17, 1916 in West Liberty, to Charles Arthur and Erma Emma Carter Buckman. She graduated from Conesville High School in 1934. She married H. Dale McLain on March 30, 1935 at the Methodist parsonage in Birmingham.

Dorothy made clothes for premature babies in hospitals and loved doing crafts- decorated dolls for First National Bank for Christmas. She was also a charter member of Old Threshers and attended from 1950-2009.

Dorothy is survived by 7 children: Karen Geysbeek of Sebring, Fl., John (Pat) McLain of Lockridge, Ronald McLain of Tucson, Az., Judith (Bruce) Meyer of Reading, Pa., Dianne (Leo) Brokken of Fairfield, Martha (Bob) Henderson of Stockport and Rebekah (Jim) Schwarz of Fairfield, 5 siblings: Viola Dotson of Atalissa, Maxine Lee of Phoenix, Az., Norma Baughman of Iowa City, Edwin Buckman of Joliet, Il. and Carole Kacena of Iowa City, 26 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, 1 son: David McLain, 5 siblings: Charles Buckman, Donald Buckman, Ruth Soloman, Ethel Haughton and Lyle Buckman, 1 grandson: Rodger Brokken and twin great grandsons.
