Dorothy E. Winslow, age 85, formerly of Fairfield, IA, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
Friends may sign a book of condolence beginning Wednesday, August 20, 2008 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, August 21 between 10:30 AM and Noon at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Elsa Lawry officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, IA.

Dorothy E. Winslow was born in Lockridge, IA on February 16, 1923 to Fred and Anna Louise (Erickson) Gustafson. She lived most of her life in the Fairfield community, and the last three years in Keosauqua. Dorothy attended Fairfield High School and graduated with the Class of 1940.
She was united in marriage with Norman 'Ned' Winslow in Memphis, MO on October 18, 1941. Ned passed away October 3, 2000.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. In her early married life, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, needlepoint and other fancy work. She was employed at Martin's Drug Store for several years. Dorothy was a member of B.P.O.E. #1192 in Fairfield, and attended First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge, IA.
Dorothy enjoyed lunch on Fridays at the Elks with her lady friends. When her grandsons were young, she treated them to Samuelson's Cafe for french fries, or 'frie fires', as the oldest grandson called them! She had a very sweet tooth and loved junk food! In her later years, her especial pleasure came from her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Dorothy recieved so much pleasure watching the little ones play!
Dorothy is survived by her son, Gary and daughter-in-law Karla of Keosauqua, IA. She was blessed with two grandchildren; Chris Winslow and wife Andi, and Mike Winslow and wife Barbie, as well as eight great-grandchildren. Survivors include a sister, Hazel Schwartz of Rock Island, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parentes, husband, infant daughter, and two brothers: Harold and Virgil Gustafson.
