Duayne Freeman

Duayne Freeman, age 82 of Fairfield, IA, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 at home.

Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 26th, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Interment will be in Glasgow Cemetery.

Duayne N. Freeman was born in Mt. Pleasant, IA on February 16, 1927 to Harry and Ethel (Niece) Freeman. He attended elementary school in Oakland Mills, and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the Class of 1944. He has been a resident of Jefferson County since 1951.

Duayne was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was united in marriage with Donna Row in the Methodist Parsonage in Mt. Pleasant on June 19, 1949. They farmed in Round Prairie Township until 1996. Duayne was employed for 20 years at BlueBird Midwest until his retirement, and then at FiberUtilities in Libertyville until his death. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy to him. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and reading. Duayne was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield and held several church offices.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Donna Freeman of Fairfield, and their children and families: Joe Freeman of Fairfield, Dan Freeman and wife Judy of Blue Grass, IA, and David Freeman and wife Phyllis, also of Fairfield. Duayne was blessed with nine grandchildren: Carisa, Sara, Cody, Brad, Lindey, Nick, Danielle, Josh, and Jacob; and six great-grandchildren: Brianna, Brady, Brynley, Caden and Elyse; and one nephew, Nathan Pepper.

His parents, sister Marjorie Olson, brother Glen Freeman, and Glen's two children preceded Duayne in death.
