Edith V. Schillerstrom, age 94, of Fairfield, IA, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Funeral services were held 10:00 AM, Monday, July 23, 2007 at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Pastor Marvin Robeck officiating. Interment was in Upper Richwoods Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the First Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Edith Viola Hendricks Schillerstrom was born December 18, 1912 in Jefferson County, IA, the daughter of Edwin C. and Mary R. (Lynn) Hendricks. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1930 and attended Fort Madison Business College, graduating in 1931.
Edith was united in marriage with Ralph C. Schillerstrom on April 14, 1935. They are the parents of Roy, Elizabeth, Mary, and Robert. They lived on the farm where Edith was born until 1983, and where her Hendricks ancestors homesteaded, 8 mi. NE of Fairfield. Ralph passed away May 3, 1974.
Edith was a devoted wife and mother. She was employed at the Dexter Company, and worked for 21 years in the Automobile Department of the Jefferson County Treasurer's Office, retiring in 1975.
Edith was dedicated to her God, her family, friends and the First Lutheran Church. When in good health, she enjoyed quilting, Bible Study, playing the piano, country music, Republican Women, ELCA, and playing cards. Edith was a wonderful blend of faith, strength, and love.
Edith is survived by her children and their families: Roy Schillerstrom of Washington, IA, Elizabeth West and husband Floyd of Fairfield, Mary Jarvis and husband Oren of Washington, IA, and daughter-in-law, Darlene Schillerstrom.
Edith has 5 grandchildren: Kathy Cubbage and husband Harold of Libertyville, Rev. Monica Jarvis, missionary in the Philippines, Melanie Dill and husband Mark of Manchester, IA, Barry Jarvis and wife Mary Jane of Cedar Rapids, and Shawn Schillerstrom of Brighton. In addition, she has 8 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, son Robert in 1997, step-grandson Joey Krouse, brother Merle and sisters-in-law, Louise Schillerstrom and Arlene Jacobs.
