Edward Dean Richmond

June 29, 1926 — April 11, 2008

Edward D. Richmond, age 81, of Fairfield, passed away at home Friday, April 11, 2008.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine and no funeral services are planned at this time.

Edward Dean Richmond was born June 29, 1926 in Hannibal, MO to George E. and Anna P (Johnson) Richmond. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri, and a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was united in marriage with Wanda Sidwell in Hannibal on March 26, 1952. They are the parents of three children: Jane, Sue, and Jim.

Mr. Richmond was employed for 43 years as a railroad signalman for Burlington & Northern Railroad. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Fairfield. His joy was his family, and he also took pleasure in walking, reading, camping, and his computer.

He is survived by his wife Wanda, of Fairfield, and his children and their families: Jane Richmond of La Paz, BCS, Mexico, Sue Howard and husband Ed of Fairfield, and Jim Richmond, also of Fairfield. Mr. Richmond was blessed with four grandchildren: Eric Howard and wife Anne of Ankeny, IA, Kelly Cubbage and husband Robert of Mt. Pleasant, Katie Stout and husband Stan of Ankeny, and Mark Howard of Cedar Falls, IA, as well as five great-grandchildren. Survivors include a brother, John Richmond and wife Beverly of Springfield, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother and sister: Eleanor Osbourne and George Richmond.
