Edwin “Ed” E. Stater, age 81, of Fairfield, Iowa, passed on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Fairfield surrounded by his family.
According to his wishes his body has been cremated.
Visitation for family and friends will be at 4pm - 7 pm, Friday, November 10, 2017, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Joseph Phipps officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery.

Ed was born in Ottumwa, IA on January 22, 1936, to Edward and Paula (Jemison) Stater. He married Sharon Kay Hudgell on June 1, 1957 at Barhydt Chapel in Fairfield, IA. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before she passed away May 2, 2013.
Ed served in the Iowa National Guard Culminating as a 1st Lieutenant. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Parsons College. Ed owned the John Deere dealership in Fairfield. He was a member of the Fairfield Rotary Club, Kaaba Shriner, the Masonic Lodge, Elks and First Presbyterian Church.
Left to share Ed’s memories are his three children, Kristin (Marshall) Aines of Highlands Ranch, CO, Julia (Todd) Fulton, of Richland, IA and Steven (Christine) Stater of O'Fallon, IL; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Ned) Schlemmer, Mitchell (Shelbie) Fulton, Matthew Aines, Joshua Aines, Nicholas Stater, Katherine Stater and Elizabeth Stater; 4 great grandchildren; and 6 siblings, Betty Houk of Eldon, IA, Larry Stater of Mesa, AZ, Paula Boone of Ewing, MO, Grace Sparling of Cedar Rapids, IA, John Stater of Cedar Falls, IA and Richard Stater of Henderson, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Paula; one sister, Phyllis; and two brothers, Edward and George.
