Eldon John Bryant

Eldon John Bryant, age 90 of Fairfield, passed away June 14, 2013 at Sunnybrook Living Care Center, Fairfield, Iowa.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 18, 2013 prior to service.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Nate Nims officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary. Cards and memorials may be sent to: 702 E Madison, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Eldon was born July 27, 1922 to John Charles and Alice Brown Bryant in Akron, Iowa. John Charles broke prairie ground and started the family farm near Akron, Ia., and Eldon continued to farm at age 16 after his father's death. He married Penelope "Penny" Tsitouras May 22, 1943.

Eldon graduated from Le Mars High School class of 1939. He has lived in Fairfield since 1989. Eldon was a farmer and owner of Broken Kettle Book Service for 45 years. He was an active member of Plymouth County Farm Bureau, Historical Society (Jefferson County), Jefferson, County Hospital Auxiliary and a Bargain Box volunteer. Eldon was a member of Adaville United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church, Fairfield, Iowa.

Eldon is survived by his wife: Penelope "Penny" Bryant of Fairfield, Iowa., 2 sons: John D Bryant (Julia Cotter) of Bow, New Hampshire, Curtis L Bryant (Stephanie Beal) of Cambridge, Massachusetts; 1 daughter: Sylvia A (Dave) Fredericks of Fairfield, Iowa, 3 Grandchildren: Dr. Sarah Fredericks, Dr. Rachel Fredericks and Nicole Bryant (Alexandre Le Tiec).

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 Brothers: Gordon and Harold Bryant.
