Eleanor Claire Skaggs

Eleanor Claire Skaggs, age 90 passed away on July 29, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren, in Keosauqua.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home with funeral services to follow.

Eleanor was born May 11, 1921 in Libertyville, to Fay Thurman and Vera Minard Hutton. She married Lyle Skaggs on November 16, 1940 in Memphis, Missouri. He passed away May 10, 1999.

Eleanor taught school for 35 years at Libertyville, Birmingham and country schools and also taught summer school in Fairfield. She was teacher of the year for Fairfield Community Schools in 1986.

Eleanor is survived by 2 children: Connie Kay Connon of Eureka, Missouri and Dick (Roxie) Skaggs of Fairfield, 4 grandchildren: Deb Kay Connon, Mike Allen Connon, Rick Ivan Connon and Chris Todd Skaggs, 2 great-grandchildren: Megan Christine Connon and Eleanor Claire Connon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings: Hugh J. Hutton, Elsie Hutton Tweedy and Roy Edwin Hutton and 1 son-in-law: Robert Eugene Connon.
