Elizabeth "Libby" K. Clifford passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook LTC Center in Fairfield, Iowa on Friday, April 8, 2011. She had lived in Fairfield for the last 21 years, volunteered at the Bargain Box for most of those years and enjoyed her family.
The family had a celebration of life at Behner Funeral Home on Monday, April 11, 2011. She was born in Washington, D.C. on December 16, 1917 to Dr. Clarence W. and Edith Coope Kanolt. Her father was a physicist with the cryogenics lab at the Bureau of Mines. Libby grew up n Pelham Manor, Ny where she studied modern dance and in Manhattan, Ny. She met her husband, William "Bill" H. Clifford, who was an actor on Broadway, while she was working as a medical secretary. They were married in 1940 and lived in Greenwich Village, Ny. After the war, Libby and Bill moved to Yonkers, Ny where they raised their 3 children. In 1990, Libby moved to Fairfield to be with her eldest daughter, Ann, after Bill passed away from cancer.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Dr. Clarence W and Edith C. Kanolt, her husband: William H. Clifford and 1 sister: Ruth Fessler. She is survived by her daughter: Ann Clifford and granddaughter, Annalisa Miller with her husband, Daniel and 3 great-grandchildren in Fairfield, her son: William H. Clifford with his wifeDiane and granddaughter, Sarah Clifford and great-granddaughter in Gig Harbor, Wa and grandson Charles Clifford in Fort Collins, Co and her daughter: Morgan Clifford with her husband, Timothy Old of Stillwater, Mn.
