Elizabeth "Betty" Rose Motz

November 16, 1921 — February 11, 2016

Elizabeth “Betty” Rose Motz, age 94, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center, Winfield, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Monday, February 15, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Fairfield, IA with Reverend Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.

Betty was born November 16, 1921 to Miles and Ruth (Dorrell) Anderson in Indianapolis, IN. She married Francis “Dr. Frank” Lee Motz February 11, 1939 in Franklin, IN. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before he passed away January 28, 1992.

Betty lived in the Fairfield area since 1941. She worked at Martin Drugs Store and was an assistant to the pastor at First United Methodist Church for 13 years from 1986-1999. Betty was a member of United Methodist Women, Lionel’s (Lions Club) and Business & Professional Club. She volunteered for American Cancer Society and Hospice. In 1998 Betty received the “Volunteer of the Year” award for Jefferson County Hospice. She enjoyed reading and going to bible studies.

Betty is survived by her children, Connie (Denny) Ryner of Geneseo, IL, David Motz of Davenport, IA and Joyce Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA; 4 grandchildren, Diane Hale, Denise Goodrich, Greg Ryner and Rebecca (Ryan) Hagensee; 9 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild one brother, Jack Anderson of Indianapolis, IN; and one sister, Martha (Robert) Kistler of Fairfield, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Ruth Anderson; her husband, Dr. Frank Motz; and one brother, Robert Anderson.
