Elmer Ernest Teeter

Elmer Ernest Teeter age 94 of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family & friends will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home.  A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Peterson officiating.  Inurnment will follow the service at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.

Memorials are to American Cancer or donor’s choice and mailed to Linda Teeter, 602 East Washington, Apt. A, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Elmer was born June 10, 1928, to Ernest and Helen (Clark) Teeter.  He married Margaret Clubb on April 4, 1954, in Fairfield.  They were married 54 years before she passed away on April 16, 2008.

Elmer graduated from Packwood High class of 1945.  He served in the Army during the Korean War.  After the service, he started farming and lived in Jefferson County all his life.

Some of Elmer’s interests was following Fairfield High School sports, Iowa Hawkeyes sports and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball.  He didn’t know a stranger.  If he had just met you before parting, a new friendship had developed.  Elmer was a people person and would go to the casino in Burlington and Riverside where he would visit with old and new friends.

Elmer will be missed by his daughter, Linda Teeter of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen; wife, Margaret; son, Mike; two sisters, Frances Ireland and Margaret “Joan” Tedrow; and brother, Bernard Teeter.
