Emma Ruth Dority

Emma Ruth Dority, age 94, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Jefferson County Health Center.

Her body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date in the Detroit, Michigan area.

Emma was born on June 19, 1918 in Raisinville, Michigan to Frank and Julia Henry Jackson. She married Lawrence M. Powell in Detroit, Michigan on August 13, 1942 and he passed away on December 16, 1964. She later married Fred Dority in 1970 and he passed away in 1977.

She worked on the Detail Line for Lionel Model Trains, retiring in 1982.

Emma is survived by 2 daughters: Cheryl E. Balan of Harsens Island, Michigan and Vermeda F. Powell of Fairfield, 2 grandchildren: Michael L. Balan and Stephanie R. Cooper, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 brother: Guy Jackson of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings and both husbands.
