Ethel Lorene Smith Bower

Ethel Lorene Smith Bower, age 88, former Fairfield resident, died Tuesday at the Hospice Care of Louisville, Colorado.

Funeral Services were held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 25, 2005 at Behner Funeral Home. Family Visitation was held 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Ethel Lorene Smith Bower was born on October 5, 1916 in Farson, Iowa to John and Eva (Bradshaw) McDowell. Ethel was married to Seldon L. Smith on August 26, 1933. They were the parents of a son, Pearl, and a daughter, Darlene. Seldon passed away January 3, 1979. She married Jim Bower on September 15, 1990 and he later passed away. Ethel was a devoted mother, homemaker and loved her eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Ethel left behind her children and their families: Pearl and Shirley Smith of Sunrise Beach, MO, and Darlene Smith King of Boulder, CO. She also has two brothers living: Harley McDowell of Ottumwa, IA and Ronald McDowell of Blakesburg, IA.

Deceased family members are: parents, her spouses, four brothers; Jim, Gene, Eddie & Harold McDowell, one sister, Grace Parker and one grandson, Stuart Seldon Smith.
