Eugene Richard Luke age, 76 of Knoxville, Iowa died 11:58 P.M. Jan. 14, 2007 at V.A. Central Iowa Health Care in Knoxville,IA.

The body has been cremated.

A Memorial service was held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cecil officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Troy Cemetery.

Eugene R. Luke was born March 19, 1930 in Chadron, NE to Elmer Luke, Sr. and Rose Scott Luke. Eugene spent most of his life in the Glasgow and Fairfield areas.

Eugene served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked in the Foundry at American Chain & Cable, and Dexter Company. Eugene also worked at the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Middletown, IA. His hobbies included cowboy music, and he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa hawkeyes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. Eugene was a member of VFW Post #2271.

Eugene is survived by his sons and their families: Rick Luke , and Rod & Lori Luke, both of Fairfield, and Randy Winters of Colona, IL. He was grandfather to six grandchildren. Survivors include five sisters and one brother: Melvin Luke of Glasgow, IA, Judy Bruders, Ida Kerr, both of Fairfield, IA, Cleone Downing of Wheatfield, IN, Lydia Miller of Shulerville, SC, and Minnie Green of Alabama.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers: Dorothy Luke,Robert and Elmer Luke, Jr.
