Evelyn Clingan

Evelyn Clingan, of Fairfield, passed away April 3, 2018.  She was 87.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, April 9, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Behner Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 10:00 am, at Grace Family Church, 24536 Hwy 78, Ollie, IA.  The service will be officiated by Pastors Dar Eckley and Danny Cary, followed by burial in Abingdon Cemetery.

Evelyn was born in rural Libertyville to Van T. and Bertha (Scovel) Lawson on April 29, 1930.

She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948, and then graduated from Parsons College.  She taught in rural Jefferson County Schools as well as Pekin Community Schools, which included Farson and Ollie.   She was previously married to Dean Clingan; they farmed and raised their 4 children in rural Hedrick.  Later, she worked many years in the Auditor’s office at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Her precious family and loving friends brought her the most joy in her life.   She had a special love for all livestock, especially Shorthorn cattle and Clydesdale horses.  She also enjoyed spending time outdoors, appreciating flowers and watching birds.  Above all else was her unwavering faith in God.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Wayne A. Clingan, two grandchildren, Christopher and Natalie Clingan, one brother, Edwin Lawson, and one sister, Vivian (Lawson) Helfenstine.
