Evelyn M. Smith, age 85 of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield, IA.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Hope Lutheran Church, Germanville, IA with Pastor Ryan Dexter officiating. Burial will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Germanville, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Monday, February 2, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born August 17, 1929 to Harold and Mildred (Sinn) Rebling in Brighton, IA. She married Ralph Edward Smith, July 13, 1947 at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, IA. They were married 62 years before he passed away March 23, 2009.

Evelyn lived in Jefferson County area all her life. She was a school teacher, worked at Chain Cable and was a farm wife. She loved spending time with family. Evelyn was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Harold Smith (Calista Fiedler) of Fairfield, IA; 2 granddaughters, Tiffany (Cory) Warner of Birmingham, IA and Heather (Matt) Mercer of Cantril, IA; 4 great grandchildren, Gavin and Kennedy Warner of Birmingham, IA and Madelyn and Paizley Mercer of Cantril, IA; 3 brothers, Donald (Deloris) Rebling of Brighton, IA, Paul (Donna) Rebling of Wayland, IA, and Harold (Bev) Rebling of Fairfield, IA; 2 sisters, Anna Mae Burger and Norma (Jay Roy) Myers both of Fairfield, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Smith; one son, Doug Smith, and daughter-in-law, Colleen Smith.
