Fern Crafton passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Assisted Living December 17, 2020.
Open visitation will be 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Behner Funeral Home.
A private burial will be held at Glasgow Cemetery with Pastor John Kermott officiating.
A Celebration of her life service will be held at a later date for her family and friends.
Fern was born April 9, 1922 in Round Prairie Township to Parvin and Helen Howell. She grew up on the Howell family farm and graduated from Fairfield High School.
She married Ralph (Pete) Crafton in 1940 and has been a Fairfield resident and loyal active member of the First Baptist Church since then.
Fern was a valued Loudens office employee for 33 years, from 1951 until her retirement in 1984.
Fern had an amazing memory and highly valued her family and her many friendships of all ages. She was especially fond of playing cards and winning and avidly continued this throughout her life. She loved people and her special smile and laughter were infectious.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her 5 siblings: Vernie Metz, Margaret (Peg) Newell, George Howell, Tom Howell and Evelyn Zumdome. She is survived by her sister-in-law Rachel Howell and will be greatly missed by her 12 nieces and nephews and many special friends.
If you choose and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glasgow Cemetery or the First Baptist Church. Cards and memorials may be mailed to Rita Puder, 805 W. Grimes, Fairfield, IA 52556.
