Ferne Irene Burk

Mrs. Burke passed away November 28, 2004. A memorial graveside service with burial of her cremains was held 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 9, 2005 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa. Rev. Thomas Raphael-Nakos officiated.

Ferne Burke was born October 22, 1911 in Cedar Township in Jefferson County. She was the daughter of Frank E. and Irene (Crowner) Bruey. Ferne was married to Everett Floyd Burk on August 24, 1932 in Memphis, Missouri. They were the parents of four sons; Keith, Gale, Randy and Larry.

Ferne lived most of her life in Jefferson County. She attended Ankrom School in the rural county school system and was a homemaker. Ferne attended Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville and was a member of the Faith United Methodist Women.

Ferne is survived by three sons and their families; Keith Burk of Fairfield, Gale Burk of Gilbert, AZ, and Randy Burk of Knoxville, TN, one brother; Richard W. Bruey of Fairfield and one sister, Juanita James of Oroville, CA.

Ferne was grandmother to three, great-grandmother to three and great-great-grandmother to one.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Everett, who died October 9, 1988,and one son, Larry Ray Burk
