Francis Lee Baum was born October 28, 1929 to Floyd and Bertha (Mumm) Baum in Logan, Iowa. He married Phyllis Mayer on June 13, 1987 in Fairfield, Iowa.

Francis had lived in Fairfield for 20 years and the last 3 his residence was in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a janitor for the First Baptist Church in Fairfield. His hobbies and interests included woodworking, gardening, and flowers.

Francis is survived by his wife Phyllis Baum of Ottumwa, Iowa. His stepchildren, Stephen Mayer of Costa Rica, Craig Mayer of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Debra (Mayer) Cramblit of Agency, Iowa. One brother Roy Baum of San Diego, California, a sister in-law Linda Baum of Sac City, Iowa.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Alvin Baum, and Orville Baum, 1 sister Bearnice Hillmer.
