Frank William Cathey

Frank W. Cathey, age 82, of Fairfield, died May 17, 2008 at the Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City, IA.Open visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 20, and visitation with family will be 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 21st.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial of cremains will be 10:30 AM, Friday at Wright Cemetery on Glasgow Road.

Frank William Cathey was born in Fairfield, IA to Omar King and Myrtle (Ruby) Cathey, Sr. He married Joyce Rizor on May 18, 1951 and they divorced in 1988 . He then married Martha J. McIntire in Fairfield.

Frank was a WWII Marine Corp Veteran serving in the South Pacific on Iwo Jima from 1943 -1946, with the 4th Marine Division, Fox Company, and returned home on the new WASP.He was self employed with different businesses; Cam Can Robo Car Wash, Cathey Tire Sales and was a gun smith and sold guns. Frank was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield.

Frank is survived by Martha J. Cathey of Fairfield, one son and one daughter and their families: Cameron Cathey of Ashburn, VA; Candy (Delmar) Copeland of Fairfield; one stepson and two stepdaughters: Farid A. Zainal of Concord, CA, Christina N. Zainal of Cincinnati, OH, and Angela J. Evangeliou of Montreal, Quebec; one granddaughter Heather Copeland; three step grandchildren; Antonio Giordano, Demetri Evangeliou and Christopher Zainal: one brother and one sister; Bob and Joyce Cathey of Bonduwell WI , Beverly and Don Hickenbottom of Fairfield, sister-in-law Alice Cathey of Colorado Springs ,CO, and brother-in-law John Crawford of North Liberty, IA.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Rosamonde Allman, Kathryn Nelson and one brother, Omar Cathey Jr.
